Usher Board

Purpose and Goals

The Reed’s Temple Church of God in Christ Ushers are committed to providing services and keeping order in the House of Prayer.

Ushers must be willing to hear, to do and receive instruction, remembering that the Pastor has the final word.

Ushers should be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost or if you have not yet received it, seeking wholeheartedly.

Ushers should know the doctrine of his/her church. It is necessary that Ushers know them and always remember that the Pastor instructs all ushers. Ushers must follow the doctrine and assist the Pastor in the ministry. Ushers should see that nothing disturbs the service while the Pastor ministers the word of God.

After the minister has taken his place behind the pulpit to deliver the message, there should be quietness from the ushers and the congregation. No unnecessary talking or walking should be taking place at this time.

Always pray that some sinner will hear the word and receive Jesus as his personal savior.

Ushers should read their Bible daily. 2 Timothy 2:15 states β€œ…study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Search the scripture daily for out of them we are expecting eternal life. Ushers will receive wisdom, understanding, love and peace and grow in spiritual strength.

An Usher that is a Christian will be obedient to leadership. Ushers are to obey those that have authority over them. Ushers should have confidence in that he/she is qualified to do the work. Ushers should be a good listeners. Obedient ushers are needed in the church. Romans 5:19 says, β€œfor as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be righteous.”
