Pastor's Aid Ministry

The pastor's aid is a reciprocating activity which demonstrates appreciation for the pastor's love and sacrifice. The group must have one goal in mind and that is quality care for the pastor.

All activities should be conducted in concert, fully supported by the entire group and church. No one person is personally responsible for or privately designated as the caregiver to the pastor. The pastor's aid group works for the pastor in behalf of the entire church.

The pastor's aid ministry is a stewardship activity that one should work at diligently. Paul said in I Corinthians 4:1-2, "Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

Pastor's Aid Board Member

The pastor's aid worker must be faithful in the following areas:
  1. Must be able to care for the pastor.
  2. Desire to meet the needs of the pastor
  3. Must understand the pastor's labors
  4. Must trust the pastor when his financial needs fluctuate
  5. Keep the faith and be sure that all his transactions meet with the rules of accountability
  6. Should demonstrate appropriate admiration but not worship of the pastor
  7. Pastor's aid board members should gain joy from working in behalf of their pastor

I Peter 5:1-4 The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partakerof the glory that shall be revealed:  Feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God's heritage, but being ensamples to the flock.  And when the chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

Would anyone fail to support a pastor like the one exemplified in the I Peter reference? One should hope a servant like that would be aided in every turn of his ministry. A good pastor's aid board member would commit to doing the responsible things necessary to help such a pastor.
