January 2, 2022 – The Way, the Truth, and the Life

John 14:1-11 (KJV)

1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.

2 In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.

3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.

4 And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know.

5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

December 5, 2021 – Sorrow Before Triumph

Matthew 1:18-21 (KJV)

18 Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost.

19 Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily.

20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost.

21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus: for he shall save his people from their sins.

John 12: 1-8 (KJV)

1 Then Jesus six days before the passover came to Bethany, where Lazarus was, which had been dead, whom he raised from the dead.

2 There they made him a supper; and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him.

3 Then took Mary a pound of ointment of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment.

4 Then saith one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, which should betray him,

5 Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?

6 This he said, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and had the bag, and bare what was put therein.

7 Then said Jesus, Let her alone: against the day of my burying hath she kept this.

8 For the poor always ye have with you; but me ye have not always.

The word adjutant, which comes from the Latin word “adjustare,” meaning to aid or assist, is defined as a military officer who is an administrative assistant to a commander; an aide, helping hand, a right hand man.

The Adjutant Ministry is a service ministry of our church with the Pastor serving as commander. Only those who have the mind set of a servant can serve effectively. He must have a servant’s heart and a serving spirit.

Members of the Adjutancy are:
– Servants of God
– Servants of God’s people
– Servants of God’s leaders

The Adjutant Ministry is for people of humility, with a special dedication, and a mind to serve. The adjutant serves with no thought of recompense in word or deed.

Hospitality Ministry

Hospitality is the gracious provision of food and lodging to strangers. Kindness toward travelers and strangers was encouraged in both the Old and New Testament times.

Background Scripture: Romans 12:13
Distributing to the necessity of the saints;
given to hospitality

Hospitality is a ministry of service

A servant is one who serves others;

any person under the authority of another.

Background Scripture: Psalms 113:1

Praise ye the Lord.

Praise, O ye servants of the Lord,

praise the name of the Lord

The Hospitality Auxiliary is a group comprised of both males and females to show kindness in entertaining strangers, visitors and special guests and is vital to any church.

The hospitality auxiliary should consist of people who are lovers of the Lord and people, given to hospitality, saved, and who enjoy making others happy through the giving of gifts, preparing dinners, entertaining guests at nice eating places, etc.

Beautiful hands are they that do

Deeds that are noble, good and true;

Beautiful feet are they that go

Swiftly to lighten another’s woe.

  • Mc Guffey –

Romans 10:15

. . . as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that

Preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Usher Board

Purpose and Goals

The Reed’s Temple Church of God in Christ Ushers are committed to providing services and keeping order in the House of Prayer.

Ushers must be willing to hear, to do and receive instruction, remembering that the Pastor has the final word.

Ushers should be saved and filled with the Holy Ghost or if you have not yet received it, seeking wholeheartedly.

Ushers should know the doctrine of his/her church. It is necessary that Ushers know them and always remember that the Pastor instructs all ushers. Ushers must follow the doctrine and assist the Pastor in the ministry. Ushers should see that nothing disturbs the service while the Pastor ministers the word of God.

After the minister has taken his place behind the pulpit to deliver the message, there should be quietness from the ushers and the congregation. No unnecessary talking or walking should be taking place at this time.

Always pray that some sinner will hear the word and receive Jesus as his personal savior.

Ushers should read their Bible daily. 2 Timothy 2:15 states “…study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” Search the scripture daily for out of them we are expecting eternal life. Ushers will receive wisdom, understanding, love and peace and grow in spiritual strength.

An Usher that is a Christian will be obedient to leadership. Ushers are to obey those that have authority over them. Ushers should have confidence in that he/she is qualified to do the work. Ushers should be a good listeners. Obedient ushers are needed in the church. Romans 5:19 says, “for as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be righteous.”

Pastor’s Aide Ministry

The elders which are among you I exhort, who am also an elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed; feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight thereof, not by constraint, but willingly; not for filthy lucre, but of a ready mind; neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being ensamples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.

I Peter 5:1-4

A pastor and servant like the one exemplified in the I Peter deserves support and should be aided in every turn of his ministry. Pastor’s Aid Board members are committed to doing the responsible things necessary to help such a pastor.   See the characteristics of a Pastor’s Aid below:

Youth Ministry

The goal of the Reed’s Temple Youth Department is to see our children disciplined in the Word of God, experience the power and anointing of God among their peers, and to equip them to minister in the power of the Holy Ghost.

We want to minister to children on their level and in a way that satisfies their needs mentally, emotionally, and socially. We want to meet their needs spiritually. It is our desire to assist, but not to replace, the family in guiding our young people as they mature in Christ, so they may become productive instruments, fit for the Master’s use, and be witnesses to tell of the goodness of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
